Ontario’s securities regulator, and the de facto lead for the Canadian Securities Administrators.
Canada has no national securities regulator; each province runs its own. The OSC, with the AMF in Quebec and the BCSC in British Columbia, are the big three. They coordinate rule-making through the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). The OSC sets the rules for prospectuses, public company disclosure, insider trading, and registered firms (advisors, dealers, portfolio managers). The CSA was responsible for the 2022 ban on trailer fees in discount brokerage accounts and on Deferred Sales Charge funds. If you have a complaint about an advisor or firm, you can escalate through OBSI (the ombudsman) and then to the OSC.
